object oriented
I started learning actionscript 3 last week - and am on my way to coding my first game! It is very fun, especially since a lot of the tools are pretty familiar to me… and since I dabbled in flash a while ago.  Anyway - once it’s done, I’ll post it.

no consolation
On a day dominated with internet “blackouts” in protest of SOPA (and PIPA), I would like to bring attention to another political issue that came to a head today: the president’s refusal to support a pipeline from Canada to the US. This estimated 7.6 billion dollar project would create jobs and supply us with energy security (consider getting oil from Canada vs. countries in the...

sherlock vs sherlock
i thought it interesting that there is both a new film version and british tv series of sherlock holmes. the british version is better - mostly because the format allows for a bit more personality/longform storytelling - and the direction of photography is quite stellar that doesn’t mean i don’t like movie version, I though the second better than the first

solution to motion cropping image bug
For those of you who use Apple Motion and have stumbled upon a weird glitch where it crops your photos upon import…. simply convert them to TIFF files - seems to be the working solution

cutting edge
I like  love having the newest software. It helps me get things done faster… but a “cutting” edge also means “double edged sword”… In the realm of media editing (both video and audio), this often means buggy software, new ways of looking/doing things, learning new methods, and makeshift workarounds. As in any craft, doing it the best way possible is almost...

Eurostyle
My mother told me a story about when I was little, on a trip to Europe, where I was almost accidentally left on a train. I can imagine growing up an orphan boy in Germany, probably leading a similar, but ultimately different life. The european Trevor intrigues me to a degree, and we will never know what became of that boy, unless we travel to an alternate universe. 2 things: I’m glad I was...

an enigma
Listened to the MSO play two masterworks last night: Holst’s Planets, which was preceded by Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Mars is the precursor to every war score written for film - and Jupiter is a very popular movement, because many recognize its theme. I tend to like Mars the most, followed by Saturn, Uranus, and Mercury. Neptune is my least favorite, since it really leaps off the...

a new home may be in sight
As optimistic as this post sounds… there is still a lot going on between now and the time I actually sign the dotted line. We’ll see how things pan out. I am more excited than ever to create Castle Blisstrill, the Mancave of Wonders.

a quaint picture of normalcy
Sometimes it’s the little things in life. Mother treated me to some of her good cooking (as opposed to her questionable cooking!)… and it was nice to just spend some time hanging out with them, my sister, and our dog - Sebastian - who is still slowly learning his place. He got some tasty pig ears this evening. Father’s eclectic musical taste was also on display - ranging from...

new phone in the near(ish) future
I’m looking at my Nexus One and it has served me well (very well!) over the time I’ve had it, but I’m noticing things are starting to get outdated with it. I’m a huge fan of unlimited data - so that puts me with Sprint? But I like the offerings of Verizon and I’m currently with AT&T. So many choices and so many things to weigh, and there is always the possibility...

Many hats, few heads
I am running around like crazy today - I got 3 computers all processing different things. I will be stepping out today to do some deliveries…  I look forward to the day these responsibilities can be shared with other employees.

Hunting For Houses in Tosa
I’m in the middle of a search for a house, apartment, or duplex to rent. The results so far have been mediocre, but I feel our luck will change soon. Tosa is a great area - it’s where I grew up, and it’s centrally located between the suburbs and the city… right in the cross section of the freeways. It’s great for mobility, and just a nice balance considering all the...
